Does hard anodized nonstick cookware scratch?
Yes, and you have to be careful–I've had some off-brands peel off in large flakes. My husband likes to use steel wool when he washes dishes, and as a consequence, even our higher grade pans are a wreck.

Yes, it is possible to scratch the surface. Most will list in their instructions not to use metal utensils in them. Also not to clean them with steel wool.
The anodizing process eats the top layer with acid to change the surface, and you can scratch through that layer.

This stuff can be toxic if it peels away, another caution for this type of cookware…..don't use to cook bacon or anything with alot of salt..it eats the coating.
