What is your favorite type of cookware?
I want to buy a new cookware set and I was looking at the Rachael Ray set. Have you used it? I also am interested in the Kitchenaid set. What type of cookware do you prefer?
I am a former chef and like Mark, I own several types, with any you want a good sturdy make, Stainless steel is great, like the last fellow said a copper base or involvement as it conducts heat best, I am not a fan of an Racheal Ray things, she is a fad. Cuisinart, Kitchenaid, Le Crueset are all nice ( but expensive).
I have solid bottom ones from T-Fal (a 8 piece set w/glass lids), made from cast aluminum, they have oven-proof handles, I also have 2 Le Creuset dutch ovens (4 & 8 quart) and 3 T-Fal non stick pans for sauting/frying and cooking eggs.
Look at the type of materials, the number of pots/pans, and do not be afraid to mix them up, the fry pans with sets are great for browning meats for roasting/braising/stewing. Find ones with the ability to goin the oven , there is were ST Steel with metal handles are best, just make sure you are happy with them, some are a bit pricey and you want to be happy with your purchase.
